This piece is produced as an 8-channel tape music; each channel represents the same latitude but different longitude locations on Earth. The creation process involves mainly using saxophone improvisations and various instruments made while viewing photos of various cities situated along the 37th parallel north, accompanied by provided texts.
The listening space embodies an acoustic concept, allowing the audience to perceive multiple sounds from various points around the Earth's center. It incorporates spontaneous sounds, excerpts from classic movies from each region, and natural sounds. The temporal progression from 'p' (soft) to 'f' (loud) and back to 'p' creates a dynamic that simulates a sense of travel by panning between channels.
Each classic film captures the linguistic characteristics of its respective region. While the saxophone plays through each channel, lines from actors in these classic movies are integrated into the composition using a Max/MSP.
This version is presented in stereo, implemented by SPAT, condensing 8 channels into 2 channels.
